Snowy Saturday Morning

A quick post to share the snow.  This is what we woke up to this morning.

I hope you are all having a good day.  Clearly we will be spending our weekend at home since nothing could possibly be open if we could get out.

  1. Wow, it's so peaceful looking and beautiful! (Says I, from the comfort of nearly 2000 miles away where it isn't snowing, lol) You are in the middle of a true winter wonderland! Not to mention an historic snowstorm. Your photos really are lovely! I hope you don't lose (m)any tree branches before it's all over. Is it a nice sticky snowball snow? Or a powdery snow angel snow? Are you going to go outside and play in it? :-)

  2. Lalo,

It is a very heavy sticky snow. We have at least 3 feet of snow on the ground, and it is stil falling.

While beautiful, it is a bit of a pain. Once we warm up we have two additions on the house that have reasonably flat roofs. They need to be cleared off next. No need to exercise today, we are getting plenty with the snow clearing.

There will definitely be some warm stew or casserole for dinner tonight. This not a raw food kind of day!

Playing in the snow may happen tomorrow, after the work is finished. But then again we may be sick of it by then. ;)

  3. Oh, clearing off roofs, that's no fun! We had to do that last spring, when we had a huge, heavy, wet snow. Plus we have a deck big enough to hold ballroom dancing competitions (seemed like such a good idea at the time, but I think only malevolent thoughts of it whenever it has to be shoveled or stained!), and it always gets all that extra "roof effect" snow! Well, don't overdue...maybe you can clear the roofs one snowball toss at a time! :-)

Enjoy your yummy, hearty, hot snow-day food! :-)

  4. Lalo,

The Florida rooms let in a lot of light, but they are a problem this time of year.

I love the sound of your deck. Is that the one in fog shot yesterday? That must be a great place to have coffee in the morning and watch the sunrise. For those that are up that early. ;)

  5. LOL... I mean, don't overdo, not overdue! (Can you tell I used to work in a billing department? ROTFL!)

  6. Lalo,

That is so funny! I didn't even notice it. I guess that is because I working in accounting so long myself. LOL!

  7. That is lovely. Everything is so quiet in the snow.

Bummer about the flat rooves though.

It really is a whopper of a storm

  8. Rose,

It is a crazy amount of snow. We will be digging out for days.

It is pretty though, from inside the house.

  9. That is a lot of snow -- it looks like a wet snow, too. Glad to hear you are enjoying things like cashew hot chocolate! And, I hope the snow stops soon (if it hasn't yet).

  10. You all sure are getting it this year!!

  11. Beatrice,

It is a heavy wet snow. Nothing like we used to get in the Midwest. It finally stopped about 2 hours ago. I hope we are finished for the season. I would like to see something green.

    Sarah,

I feel like I moved back home. The weather this year is so out of the norm. We typically get 7 inches of snow all winter. This one storm brought a snowfall that was probably 30 inches or more.

  12. Isn't the weather just insane this year? Look at all that snow--and here in Toronto, almost nothing. Unheard of! Hope you have a good "cocooning" weekend. :)

  13. Ricki,

Insane is a good description of the weather this winter. When we got up this morning we didn't know where to start. It was just too much.

Glad you hear you aren't getting much snow. I hope next winter is like that for us. ;)

  14. Wow! These photos are absolutely beautiful! Looks like you have a lot of snow (more that you need). I wish you could share some snow with me, I haven't touched snow for such a long time:)

  15. Alicia, what's a "Florida room?" I've never heard that term before. Is it like an atrium or sun room?

Yes, that's the deck that shows in my fog photos. BW's the one who wanted it to be huge, my vote for modestly sized was vetoed (an event so rare at Chez Laloofah that I was stunned into surrender!) ;-) So we have this monster deck, and it IS beautiful, but who is almost never here when it's time to stain or shovel it? Yeah, right. Himself! ;-)

That's too funny, our sharing this "overdue" Pavlovian spelling trait! :-D

    Good luck digging out!

  16. Oraphan,

We definitely got more snow that we needed. But it is beautiful. When I was looked out the window this morning someone when up our street on cross country skis. Made we wish I still had mine.

    Lalo,

A Florida room is a sun room. You guessed correctly.

You were overruled? How did this happen? Dan sometimes does this to me and I am normally stunned into submission as well so I understand. ;)

    talk to you later,
    Alicia

  17. I've only seen snow once, it's summer over here in Australia and constantly hot which is very tiring.
    Such beautiful photos!

  18. Polka Dot Rabbit,

I am happy you enjoyed the snow pics. It is pretty when you are looking out the window at it. Shoveling it is not so much fun. Driving in it isn't great either. I suppose we all want what we don't have. I would love to trade places with you at the moment and be enjoying the heat of summer. :)

    thanks for commenting,

  20. Jenny,
