I like to go at 7am to avoid the crowds. I took a few pictures of the market atmosphere.
Sorry my pictures are dark. The sky was grey this morning and the market is under an elevated road (which you can see in the pictures). Dan and I were talking this morning and we think there are approximately 75 vendors at the market carrying things from fresh wheat grass juice and coffee, to mushrooms, homemade salsas and of course produce.
As always we stopped at our two usual locations. First we went to see Rudy at Cat’s Paw Organic Farm. He is the nicest guy and is always full of good information. From him we bought parsley, basil and tomato plants to put into our garden. We also got Swiss chard, spicy lettuce mix, green beans, tomatoes, potatoes, and cucumbers. Next we went to Calvert Farms our CSA. There we chatted with Pam (the farmer) and got collards, dandelion greens, cilantro, red leaf lettuce, ginger, strawberries, 2 borage plants and 1 bay plant. Here are pictures of our haul today, all local and organic:
I also took some pictures of the general area where the market is located. Just outside the market is the diner, from the Barry Levinson movie "Diner". Now it is a coffee shop.
Here is a picture of an old local church that I thought made a nice picture.
This is some ornamentation on the top of one the building near where we parked. I am usually so busy getting to where I am going I don’t look up. But there are some very interesting old buildings in Baltimore.
Here is a picture of city hall. I have always liked this building.
Last but not least is a picture of the outside of Cafe Hon. This restaurant is in the neighborhood to the south of where we live. The giant flamingo always makes me smile. I can't speak to the food since we have never been there but the flamingo is great. LOL
I hope this gives you all a better sense of the city where I live. I will try to do more of this in the future if anyone is interested let me know.
Now I need to run and make Dan and I some breakfast. Talk to you all later. I hope you are having a great day!
