Carb Analysis - take two

Thank you Heather!  This is what happens when you try to do things when you are frustrated. Sometimes it is best to step back and relax. This is the chart I had wanted to post earlier.

If anyone wants the actual excel file send me an email at veganepicurean@gmail.com and I will get it to you.

Talk to you later!

  3. Michelle,

Being an accounting geek for almost 20 years I can make a nice looking spreadsheet, LOL. Not a very useful real world talent but it comes in handy every once in a while.

Heather is much better with computer things than I am. You like working out, you should check out her blog. She is great motivation for me when I would rather sit on my behind than exercise.

    talk to you later,
    Ali

  5. Naina,

Thanks, I am glad I could provide the information. I am going to do something similar with beans soon.

Heather's blog is great! I now know that when I want to park my behind on the sofa if I go to her blog I get right up. She is an a huge exercise inspiration for me, and a very nice lady too. I hope you enjoy her blog as much as I do.

  6. Great info, thanks very much! Do you know where oats (rolled or steel-cut) fit in? Also I bought some spelt the other day, it looks like whole berries...do you ever use that?

  7. Laura,

Great question about oats. I intentionally left them out since I think of those as breakfast food only. Also the numbers were not easy to nail down. They seem to vary a lot by brand.

I do like spelt and farro but didn't think anyone else bought them. I should have known better. ;-)

  8. Thank you for this- I'm glad to see bulghur and sweet potatoes do so well. They're probably my favourite on the list. I don't know sorgum though?
Just read the comments and sometimes I eat oats as dinner food- just cook them with a bit of nutritional yeast and top with beans, salsa, veggies etc.! Quick and easy student meal!

  9. Emma,

You are welcome, glad you liked it.

I have not had sorghum either so I can't tell you anything about it. All I know is that it is gluten free. That is the only item on the list that is given for the uncooked grain (hence the ** note). It did not do well in terms of carbs/fiber.

I have never had a savory version of oats. But now I think I have to try it. Thanks for the suggestion!

    hugs,
    Ali
