I was shocked by how much sodium it added to our daily intake. So sad because I love the stuff :(

Thanks for the compliment. My husband loves to tease me about "saving one person at a time" as he refers to it. He also lovingly refers to me the "nutrition nazi". This came about because I like to explain to him why I am feeding him certain things, while we are eating. I think my focus on nutrition tends to be a little overwhelming in person. At least he knows I love him enough to want to keep him around longer. :)

talk to you soon,
AliciaVegan Epicureanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08203676819322299569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3790414766945352054.post-88672361039533124782009-11-03T02:37:18.064-05:002009-11-03T02:37:18.064-05:00This post is truly amazing, thank you for remindin...This post is truly amazing, thank you for reminding us all. I have to be more careful because I use a lot of soy sauce:(

p.s. I LOVE what you said to Comfrey, it was very kind of you to care about others. The kitty says thanks for the compliment...Comfrey,

The kitty says thanks for the compliment. He is my oldest male "feline child". His name is Massimo and he is an 8 year old black smoke Turkish Angora. We have so few pictures with his eyes open (he closes them due to the flash 99% of the time) that I cherish the few I have managed to snap in the last 8 years.

Thanks for the compliment on the post as well. The reason I started my blog was to share recipes as well as the nutrition and health information I gather trying to make the healthiest choices for my family. I am hoping I can make those same changes easier for others to adopt. As my husband puts I am trying to save one person at a time from making the same mistakes we made in the past.

thanks again,
AliciaVegan Epicureanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08203676819322299569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3790414766945352054.post-3262564483156508472009-11-02T19:49:32.277-05:002009-11-02T19:49:32.277-05:00wonderful post again! but i am distracted by that ...wonderful post again! but i am distracted by that beautiful kitty who is your profile pic now! meow! and who might you be pussy cat?Comfrey Cottageshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01135637912946395843noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3790414766945352054.post-59637433150990641432009-11-02T17:19:48.746-05:002009-11-02T17:19:48.746-05:00Amey,
Nice to meet you and thanks for the comment...Amey,

Nice to meet you and thanks for the comment. I am glad you appreciated the post.

I knew I loved salt (as you can plainly see in the photo above) but I didn't think I was using much sodium in our food. I was rather shocked when I saw the numbers adding up each day. The biggest culprit for me was the liquid aminos and the salt I added when cooking. When I got those two down to a dull roar our sodium level fell into line with where it should be.

Don't forget to look at the sodium in your canned tomatoes and beans. Both of those can be quite high too.

AliciaVegan Epicureanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08203676819322299569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3790414766945352054.post-53569533495255538662009-11-02T17:01:31.140-05:002009-11-02T17:01:31.140-05:00i really commend you for doing this. Thanks for a ...i really commend you for doing this. Thanks for a great post. I'm not a huge salt freak, but I do like salt on my food for sure. Recently, I've been trying to add less salt while cooking, and just sprinkling a little salt on top, like you said. But still, I know there's a lot of sodium in soy sauce and such... I appreciate the reminder to be mindful of this. Thanks!Ameyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00291071425858947632noreply@blogger.com
