I really assumed she was the Italian part of your family. Mom must be a fantastic cook. You don't see too many non-Italians making braciole.

I haven't made it to Potenza yet or I would share photos with you. My Italian heritage is Roman. We have been to much of Italy but not any farther south than the Amalfi Coast. Sorry.

Alicia

AliciaVegan Epicureanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08203676819322299569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3790414766945352054.post-60248185212938897152009-10-17T02:22:49.331-04:002009-10-17T02:22:49.331-04:00No, mom never made this; the Italian side was my d...No, mom never made this; the Italian side was my dad's family; his mom shared her recipes with my mom, who is a great cook but not Italian in heritage.

Dad's family was from Potenza, and most of them died before I was born so I only know a small bit of their world.Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02114977921830686539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3790414766945352054.post-87171661722320931562009-10-16T22:30:45.018-04:002009-10-16T22:30:45.018-04:00Rose,

It is pronounced like the C is a G sound (or at least that is how those of Southern Italian heritage prounounce it).

I can't wait to hear what you think.

AliciaVegan Epicureanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08203676819322299569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3790414766945352054.post-36796034894844971762009-10-16T22:20:18.989-04:002009-10-16T22:20:18.989-04:00I think I'm gonna have to make it next week fo...I think I'm gonna have to make it next week for dinner. :)))Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02114977921830686539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3790414766945352054.post-55005207680092162482009-10-16T22:12:14.753-04:002009-10-16T22:12:14.753-04:00Rose,

The only constants are the tomatoes, beans and hot crushed peppers. Everything else changes every time I make it. It makes a great fall or winter dish since it is very hearty. Sometimes we serve it over polenta, millet or brown rice. It is also good with small soup pasta.

AliciaVegan Epicureanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08203676819322299569noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3790414766945352054.post-54816784947801974772009-10-16T21:03:05.381-04:002009-10-16T21:03:05.381-04:00This sounds like something I could eat every day a...This sounds like something I could eat every day and never tire of.Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02114977921830686539noreply@blogger.com
